Organic - What it really means?

In Australia we are lagging behind in relation to the labelling of products “organic”. There is as yet no statutory requirement to ensure that only products which are certified organic can include the word “organic” on the label.

If a product is labelled “Certified Organic” the consumer can be assured that at least 95 per cent of the ingredients of the product are certified organic and the remaining 5 per cent of the ingredients are natural according to the Certifier’s strict guidelines.

So to be sure that what you are buying is truly organic, look for the certifier’s logo on the product label.
